How should you design your business card for the best results?
The standard business card size is 85x55mm. You can create your design in landscape or portrait orientation. Allow for an extra 3mm bleed all around. This means the file you supply must have a finished size of 91x61mm. Extend only the background of your design (a colour or image) all the way to the edge. Bear in mind that 3mm of this background will be trimmed from all sides. So keep important information out of the 3mm bleed area.
Place the text, your name, address, phone number, etc. within the 55x85mm area. We recommend keeping the text away from the edge of the bleed area. Below are examples of what to do and what not to do.
The right layout
The sizes and blue border shown in the example above are for illustration purposes only. Please do not include them in your design. Please do not add crop marks or frames! Not even in light grey!!
Incorrect formatting
Do not make your design exactly 55x85mm. This is only possible if you have a white background, but for a coloured background or an image, you must always add a 3mm bleed on all sides. This prevents unsightly white edges after trimming.
Do not place important information in the trim area (see blue box), as it will be trimmed off!
