Sustainable printing
During our search for paper for sustainable printing, we came into contact with Value shiftersThey give residual streams a new purpose.
One of their projects is:

paper with grass from bee-friendly Dutch
verges
By using roadside grass as a raw material for the paper, the residual stream is reduced and the stored CO₂ is utilized.2not free in the cuttings. The cuttings are dried and ground in-house at Waardewenders before being further processed.
Because the cuttings are not left lying in the verges, the soil remains nutrient-poor, offering opportunities for a greater variety of flowers, herbs, and grasses. It provides food and shelter for all kinds of animals. The insects are on the menu of birds, bats, and small mammals. Moreover, due to the more complex root structures, herb-rich soils retain water better and the subsoil remains firmer. And when the flowers and herbs have finished blooming, it is mowed again and used as a raw material for new paper.
From Dutch soil
With roadside grass fibers from and production on Dutch soil, there is less transport and minimal CO2 emissions.
Durable
By reusing old paper and adding roadside grass, fewer trees are needed for this paper with the NL Greenlabel A sustainability passport.
Visible fibers
No chemical processes are applied to bleach the paper, and the roadside grass fibers are subtly visible in the paper.
Responsible
The roadside grass fibers used as a raw material for paper come from ecologically managed roadsides. This means that the verges are not mowed weekly, but that herbs are given the opportunity to bloom. As a result, insects and small animals in the verge can survive. Furthermore, the entire verge is not mowed at once; instead, part of the vegetation is left standing. This creates a better habitat for butterflies and bees.
